You may have observed that these two cleansers are currently popular and well-known. These CeraVe cleansers have blown up in popularity, even though they have been available for a long time. These have immediately become quite popular across a wide range of skin types. They may be found on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and according to a survey, they have been the most well-known brand since 2020.

People are sometimes confused about the differences between CeraVe Smoothing Cleanser and CeraVe Renewing Cleanser because both products have nearly identical advantages, effects, and components.

Just a quick summary before you dive in:

  • Label packaging and ingredient lists may differ because of cosmetic regulations.
  • SA cleansers include BHA, ceramides, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and PHA.
  • Both of these cleansers are free of silicones, harsh alcohols, common allergies, and parabens.
  • They are formulated to work well for minimizing pores, brightening skin, oily skin, anti-aging, and treating acne.

CeraVe Smoothing Cleanser or SA Renewing Cleanser may be appropriate for you if you have dry, rough, and uneven skin. These items can improve your skin's texture and brightness. If you have post-acne marks or blemishes on your face, you can use these cleansers.

Salicylic acid is the primary ingredient in each of these products. Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliator with anti-inflammatory qualities that helps unclog pores and remove whiteheads and blackheads. Both products include niacinamide, which enhances the appearance of dull skin with uneven texture and improves the skin barrier. They also have hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin.

How does it differ?

When it comes to ingredients, SA Renewing Cleanser has cholecalciferol (vitamin D), which is not present in SA Smoothing Cleanser. Vitamin D is an excellent antioxidant on the skin, and it has anti-aging benefits.

Another ingredient present in SA Renewing Cleanser and not in SA Smoothing Cleanser - Zea Mays oil. Zea Mays Oil is for emulsifying, perfuming, masking, and skin conditioning. Both cleansers are almost the same in ingredients except for the oil and vitamin D.

Also, there is a difference in the order of the ingredients. This is because of the cosmetics regulation in the EU market. SA Smoothing and SA Cleanser are both the same product with different labels and distributed in separate markets. SA Smoothing Cleanser is available in the UK/Europe, whereas SA Renewing Cleanser is available in the US.

If you want to have an even skin texture, the SA Renewing Cleanser is excellent. It's also useful for scar repair. If you've ever suffered acne scars, this is a perfect option. If your skin is delicate and easily irritated, SA Smoothing Cleanser may be better. You can use these cleansers twice a day if your skin is already accustomed.

A salicylic acid cleanser, such as these two, should be part of your skincare routine if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser and SA Renewing Cleanser contain BHA, PHA, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and niacinamide, among other ingredients. Furthermore, neither of these products contains common allergies, harsh alcohols, parabens, or silicones.

You can use a SA cleanser once or twice a day in your daily regimen, depending on your goals and skin type. Also, keep in mind that you should only leave them on for 30 to 45 seconds when washing your face with any of these cleansers. After that, rinse it off, pat it dry, and notice a wonderfully smooth surface to the skin.

Lastly, don't forget to use sunscreens! Yes, salicylic acid products remove the surface layer of skin, making you more vulnerable to sun damage and sunburns. Always use sunscreen after your skincare routine.
